Tom Aspinall headlined another big fight card (UFC London) at his home. The British heavyweight was up against Curtis Blaydes, a bona fide UFC heavyweight contender. However, the bout was not what anybody would’ve expected.

Coming into the bout, the Brit was riding an 8-fight MMA win streak and a five-fight unblemished UFC win streak. Whereas, the Elevation Fight Team athlete won his last two bouts against top heavyweight contenders.

At the beginning of the bout, Curtis Blaydes started countering the aggressive British athlete. However, it wasn’t his counters but a freak injury that put away the rising contender.

During one exchange, Aspinall abruptly fell to the ground, though there wasn’t any significant strike thrown by his American counterpart. While reviewing the tape, it appeared that the heavyweight fighter pop his knee.

Blaydes won the fight, but it wasn’t in the most convincing way. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old registered a win on the official result.

The chaotic few seconds of the bout had the fans and UFC analysts reviewing the bout with their unique takes.

MMA pros react to a drastic heavyweight main event at UFC London

MMA world, including the former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, reflected their thoughts on the clash of the supreme heavyweight fighters. Both the heavyweights needed the win to inch forward towards the title. However, the result perhaps didn’t help anybody of them.

To no surprise, ‘Razor‘ has been very close to fighting for a UFC championship. That too twice; However, he always fell a step away. Thus, this bout was a do-and-die for him. And the result of the bout, even in a win, was perhaps disappointing.

Whereas, the 29-year-old, Team Kaobon Liverpool standout, wanted to show why everyone was right in looking at him as the next British UFC champion after the UFC Hall of Famer, Michael Bisping. However, unfortunately, he couldn’t spend enough time inside the Octagon to test himself against the biggest challenge of his Octagon career.
