Joe Rogan sat down with west coast rap icon Snoop Dogg, who stopped by for an episode of his podcast. Both men had an interesting conversation that lasted about three-and-a-half hours as they went over the fight game and the music industry. During their chat, both men also talked about great fighters, and naturally, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s name came up.

Joe Rogan went off on Nurmagomedov’s greatness as he reflected on the career of the undefeated phenom. In fact, Rogan went so far as to crown him the best lightweight fighter of all time in the sport of MMA. However, he did mention that prime BJ Penn could possibly be Nurmagomedov’s greatest adversary for that spot.

“Khabib retired undefeated. Not just undefeated, but never really in a close fight. There was no real close fight. He had good fights where people put on struggles, but eventually, he gets them all.”

‘The Eagle cemented himself as an all-time great right from the moment he captured the lightweight strap. With an extensive undefeated record, it became hard to deny that he could beat down any lightweight fighter on any given night. In fact, he proved so by dispatching off the current top dogs at lightweight that includes names like Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.

By reflecting on the fact that Poirier and Gaethje are the ones primed to take up the mantle of a champion now, Nurmagomedov’s accomplishments are magnified even further. Not to mention, he finished them all in style. However, in the long run, it’s going to be hard to judge Nurmagomedov’s legacy as he retired after only three title defenses.
