Paul Felder and Donald Cerrone go way back, having known each other for what feels like forever. They both broke into the MMA scene around the same time, and have been thick as thieves ever since. In his latest appearance on Joe Rogan‘s podcast, ‘The Irish Dragon’ shared some hilarious anecdotes about living with ‘Cowboy’ in the early days, when times were tough and the living situation was anything but easy. He described it as a ‘mess’, with too many people crammed into one roof and only one bathroom to go around.

But out of all the struggles, what really got under Felder‘s skin was the fact that Cerrone let 10 people stay there, making it a tight squeeze and an uncomfortable living arrangement. It was like adding insult to injury.

Paul Felder recalls struggles to live in Donald Cerrone’s house

During episode #135 of the JRE MMA Show, Paul Felder took a trip down memory lane to his days as an amateur fighter. The two discussed Donald Cerrone to a great extent, which then led Felder to talk about when ‘Cowboy’ took him under his wing. The 38-year-old talked about Cerrone‘s Tapout house, where he would rent out bunk beds to aspiring fighters looking to train with him and Leonard Garcia. Despite Cerrone‘s noble approach, Felder struggled with the living arrangements and shared his experiences on the show.

Felder told Joe Rogan, “I flew out after sparring with him (Donald Cerrone) at a seminar and he’s like, ‘You know what? You don’t even have to pay. Just come out and you can train with us’… And then, after experiencing that mess of living in bunk beds with these other fighter dudes, sharing one bathroom, bro, in the back of his house,”

Further describing the whole place, Felder added, ” because the way they had the ranch set up, Leonard had like this middle area, Cowboy had his own bedroom with a bathroom in the back and then all of us dudes were just in like, four bunk beds.”

He further mentioned, “There’ll be like 10 guys at a time, all taking dumps in the same bathroom.”

When asked about who was in charge of feeding the ten guys living in the cramped space, Felder revealed that it was up to each person to fend for themselves. And how that experience made ‘The Irish Dragon’ feel like he is living with ‘little kids’.

“Us. For ourselves. Going to Walmart and buy and sh*t. And that’s when you realize how back-a**ed some of these kids are with their diets. It’s like, ‘What are you eating?’. There’s Oreos everywhere. It’s like little kids. You realize that, none of us even knew how to even live on our own.”, said Paul Felder.

In short, Paul Felder‘s stay at Donald Cerrone‘s house was a rough and tumble affair, but it only strengthened the bond between these two old friends. Despite cramped living quarters and a DIY approach to meals, it only cemented their friendship, eventually.
