UFC Exec. For Dana White’s Power Slap League Asked to “Make Sure No One Dies” in Chilling Message by Nevada Commission

Dana White confirmed recently that his Power Slap League plans are finally coming to fruition. The Nevada Athletic Commission approved the league for regulation back in October. In a recent meeting between the commission and the UFC executives regarding the league, the NAC chairman had some blunt remarks for the UFC top brass.
The league will kick off in early 2023 with a deal already in place for its airing. UFC President Dana White announced the league and confirmed further details in a press conference just last week. The NAC met with the UFC representatives to finalize the rule set for the competition.

NAC’s blunt question to UFC executives about Power Slap League
UFC CBO Hunter Campbell met with the Nevada Athletic Commission to go over the rule set and judging criteria for the commission’s approval. During the proceedings, the chairman of the Nevada Athletic Commission, Stephen Cloobeck, put forward some blunt questions to Campbell. “You will make sure no one dies?” he asked.

Campbell replied, “That is priority 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. That goes without saying. Honestly, one of the reasons we tested this was to really understand firsthand in person the health and safety aspect of the sport. We have a high level of comfort following that, working extensively with the commission, to make sure that we believe that safely.”

“You will make sure that no one has severe brain injuries going forward?” Cloobeck followed up with a second question.
Campbell had his answer ready for Cloobeck. He replied, “We put the health and safety requirements in place that are above and beyond basically what any other commission in the country would require.” Campbell added it was the other reason they were working with Cloobeck and executive director [Jeff] Mullen.
During the press conference, Dana White also ensured that the league would not compromise athlete safety.

While announcing the Power Slap League, Dana White addressed the inevitable questions surrounding athlete safety in the competition. White said, “I know that when we announced this, there was a lot of concerns about health and safety with some guys. Us getting involved guarantees that it’s gonna be much safer, much safer.”
White stood firm in his decision that they were going ahead with the league. He said that he liked it but added he won’t be running the day-to-day operations of the league. He introduced the president of the company, Frank Lamicella, and thanked him for his hard work in bringing the league to fruition.
