‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor has been rumored to make a triumphant return to the UFC octagon this year. However, recent developments have cast a shadow of doubt over this long-awaited comeback. There have been various reasons for this setback, including McGregor’s ongoing issues with USADA and his external shenanigans that have convinced fans that the much-anticipated fight with Michael Chandler may not happen.

Even UFC legend Chael Sonnen feels that the McGregor vs. Chandler bout is under scrutiny. Sonnen believes that the reason for this uncertainty is UFC president Dana White‘s update on the Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic matchup. During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, White confirmed that the heavyweight bout is scheduled for November and is likely to take place in Madison Square Garden in New York.

After weighing in on the heavyweight fight between Jones and Miocic, Sonnen emphasized Michael Chandler’s state of mind. He said, “Chandler knows the rumor that he and McGregor are supposed to be fighting in November. He is well aware of that rumor. So when Chandler’s at home and he hears that it’s still Stipe[Miocic] and [Jon]Jones on that card, he’s got to be looking around and going, ‘What about me?'”

On the other hand, McGregor and Chandler will be seen coaching a pack of UFC hopefuls in the 31st installment of ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ which airs on May 30th on ESPN. The two fighters were initially scheduled to fight after the show’s conclusion, but the date was later switched to happen later this year. However, there is no official confirmation so far.
