‘Well That’s Interesting’- Khabib Nurmagomedov Open to ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ Coaching on One Condition

UFC lightweight GOAT, Khabib Nurmagomedov, spoke out at UFC Russia and went over the possibility of coaching a season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. TUF returned with a bang on June 1 after the show was virtually taken off the air. However, a large segment of the fanbase has welcomed the show back with open arms and each week has produced its fair share of excitement.
‘The Eagle’ was asked whether he would commit to a coaching position on the reality show despite being retired. Nurmagomedov seemed somewhat resistive at first. However, his possible involvement came with a caveat. Nurmagomedov posited that if there wasn’t much drama involved, he would entertain the idea of coaching.
“No, not really [coach on TUF]. I would have to be in the States for the entire season. Don’t really like this. I come to the US only for business, training, fights and after that I go home. I am not a fan of the US. They offered me, two or three times if I remember this correctly.”

“Just to train, no fights? Well, that’s interesting. It depends on the format of the show. I think it is a 50/50. I would like to serve as a coach but for the Russian team or for the American one or Brazil or Ireland. To train and prepare them properly within a 3-month camp? Yes, that would be interesting. As for taking part in the drama… I have already gone through it. Not interested anymore.”

Ever since his retirement in October 2020, Khabib Nurmagomedov has shifted into a role that was held by his late father. ‘The Eagle’ has had a very successful year as a coach to his stable of Russian teammates.
Fighters like Islam Makhachev, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Usman Nurmagomedov have all greatly benefitted from his tutelage. There’s no doubt up and comers from the show will have many positive takeaways from interacting with Nurmagomedov.
