Jon Jones started the year with a big announcement. He expressed his wish to become a champion in 2023 on social media. While nothing looks impossible for the light heavyweight fighter who has now turned towards heavyweight. A French challenge awaits him at UFC 285. Jon Jones will be facing French HW fighter Ciryl Gane in March this year. ‘Bones’ will not only have to deal with Gane, but he will also have to deal with the French fans including international footballers, who were seen performing at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Ciryl Gane has a soccer background and is considered a safe and intelligent keeper. Before getting into the UFC, soccer was his first love. Gane even traveled to Qatar to watch his national team play the finals against Argentina.

While the heavyweight encounter between Gane and Jones is gathering hype, news about Kylian Mbappe’s possible presence is making things more interesting. Talking about Mbappe, Gane said, “Mbappé is a great friend, and he and many other French futbol players want to come to my fight.” He further added, “A lot depends on their schedule in March, but my coach, Fernando Lopez, has invited many of the players.”

Ciryl Gane looks all set and ready for Jon Jones
Gane last fought Tai Tuivasa in September. The fight was a to-and-fro affair. while Gane was initially floored by Tuivasa, he soon gained control and emerged as the victor. Gane’s record currently reads 11-1-0. He is also 3 years younger than Jon Jones. The age difference, however, stands negated as we look at Jon Jones’s career record of 26-1-0.

Both Ciryl Gane and Jon Jones will be going in with all cylinders firing. The heavyweight champion position is vacant and it will be calling both fighters.
