The fans watch several interviews featuring their favorite UFC fighters, but they may have never thought about what it must be like for them to do an interview. Former UFC fighter Ronda Rousey on her YouTube channel had freely discussed a similar topic. In the video from two years ago, the American wrestler was discussing her fight against Cat Zingano at UFC 184 with D-Von Dudley. In between, she also talked about how she felt when they interviewed each other. The interview between Rousey and Zingano was conducted for the ESPN+ show ‘Why We Fight.’ In the documentary series, the lives of well-known athletes were explored in greater detail. The combat sports participants in the program revealed their journeys into the MMA world.

‘Rowdy’ added, “it was just really f**king cool and I just love the concept of like fighter to fighter getting it out instead of.. like yeah journalism is useful in many ways but there are certain things, you know, people can’t relate to so you don’t even go there but if someone will, you’ll open up more.”

The American fighter discussed her dislike of typical interviews in between their candid conversations. According to her, it is difficult to convey certain feelings to journalists. Nonetheless, if it was a fellow fighter, it will be easier for them to relate with each other. Thus, the wrestler believes it was a better experience giving an interview when the interviewer was also a fighter.

Life before entering the MMA world

Ronda served as the show’s executive producer while she and Zingano sat down to exchange life stories. In the conversation, ‘The Arm Collector’ was open and honest with Zingano about her past before joining the MMA world. She talked about her bartending days, a time when she felt like she was nothing. ‘Rowdy’ was highly dissatisfied with her life. In those days, she watched MMA matches on the television screen from the bars.

Zingano, too, had a similar tale about how difficult it was for her to break into the MMA world. Many people loved the interview just as much as they loved both of their fights at UFC 184. The fight took place in 2015, and Rowdy won in the first round by submission.
