“And When It Comes to WWE, Yes” – As Vince McMahon Puts WWE on Sale, UFC Owner Endeavor’s Words Suggest It Might Be Worth ‘Exploring’
UFC and WWE might become sibling leagues soon! WME or Endeavor, the company that owns UFC, has recently shown interest in the popular wrestling league WWE. Endeavor’s president Mark Shapiro recently appeared in a podcast hosted by Matthew Belloni. In the Spotify podcast called ‘The Town’, the two talked on various topics revolving around the media group Endeavor. While talking about the market value of the media company, the host asked the president about his views on WWE’s selling. He asked Shapiro what he thinks about the wrestling league. Shapiro had a very interesting reply to his question.
Even though the UFC is pretty turbulent right now, due to Dana White’s infamous New Year’s Eve incident, Shapiro wants his company to be back in its original form and do even better. The duo discussed the different prospects of the situation. Shapiro explains how WWE can do amazingly well under WME’s ownership. He also went on to defend the wrestling league when the host called it “fake”.

UFC owner about to capture the wrestling world
Matthew Belloni, talking to the president, asked, “it’s interesting because wall street largely considers ENDEAVOR to be an MMA company and that’s due to the significant revenue that UFC generates. What about WWE?” The question intrigued Mark Shapiro but firstly he went on to defend the position of his company.
The president said, “what you mean to say is wall street largely values us appropriately. I still think we’re a little below, but the UFC, our own sports property segment, is valued relatively appropriately given where other leagues are trading. The rest of the company doesn’t get the appropriate value.”

When the host shed light on the fact that Vince McMahon has put WWE on sale. He then proceeded to ask Shapiro how closely he has been following the updates. To the question, Endeavor’s president replied, “It’s more entertainment than it is sports competition like the UFC. We’ve shown the streets and frankly everybody in the industry what we can do when you put UFC on top of the ENDEAVOR platform… And when it comes to WWE, yes! That would be something interesting and worth exploring.”
The President is also very confident that he will be able to show WWE a new path.

How does UFC help Endeavor with the case of handling WWE?
To begin with, Mark Shapiro does not have second thoughts when it comes to WWE. He believes that like he handled UFC, he will be able to enhance WWE the same way.
“Very similar model, if you think about it. Not just to the UFC, but in terms of historical context. WME represented Vince McMahon and WME has been representing them for the last decade-plus! Very similar to what we’re doing with the Ferttitas in the UFC. So we know the WWE very very well,” Shapiro added.
