Colby Covington Threatens Jorge Masvidal: “I Would Hate to Hurt Him Outside the Cage”

Jorge Masvidal takes on Nate Diaz for the BMF title on the main event of UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden. That apart the winner of this fight is very likely to get a shot at the welterweight championship. That’s where Masvidal’s teammate and rival, Colby Covington comes into picture.

It’s not surprising anymore that Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal has animosity between them even if they were close friends at one point. Both Covington and Masvidal have their reasons for which their friendship fell apart. However, there is a strong possibility that these two fighters might step into the octagon to settle the beef.

Colby Covington faces Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title on UFC 245. If he manages to win the title and Masvidal wins his fight against Diaz, then a fight between this undeniable. In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Colby Covington said:

“If he wins this fight in November, and when I beat Marty fake Newsman in December, then we will see each other in octagon.”

Covington added:

“With him(Jorge Masvidal) we gonna have to fight each other. We gonna settle our differences then. All the paint up aggression and anger he has towards, me he has a chance to settle it. When the cage door is locked in the UFC octagon and Bruce Buffer announces it’s time that will be the time he can let all his frustration out and then hopefully we can go back to be civil with each other.”

Talking about his friendship with Masvidal, Covington said:

“I found out his true colors. He was not a real friend the whole time. He was just using me to help him with his wrestling, and that’s good. Cause I used him to get striking. So we kind of used each other. It was not really a friendship. It was a business relationship.”

Colby Covington wants to settle the beef inside the octagon as he said:

“Right now we are wasting energy. He is doing stupid things, he is trying to act tough. We are professional cage fighters. We are paid to fight in the cage. We don’t get paid outside the cage. I would hate to have to hurt him outside the cage so he does not get to Nate Diaz fight.”

Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington are on a collision path. However, the result of Diaz vs Masvidal and Usman vs Covington would will certainly make it clear whether these two teammates are fighting each other inside the octagon. Title fight or not, it will be a gigantic fight if Masvidal takes on Covington.
