Conor McGregor is one of the most polarising figures in MMA. Although he has faced criticism for his behavior outside the octagon, not all of his actions deserve rebuke. The Irishman has been quite generous with people in need.

McGregor was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. From an apprentice plumber to a megastar in combat sports, he had to work hard every step of the way. Many people like to believe that success has changed McGregor, but that is not the case. Throughout his journey, the ‘Notorious’ has given back to the community.

Recently, McGregor donated €1 million to Irish hospitals to battle the Coronavirus. However, this is not the first act of kindness from McGregor. Last year, he built houses for homeless families in Ireland. He has also made several anonymous donations and has helped raise millions for charities.

Conor McGregor inspires a disabled man

McGregor’s recent story includes Craig Rankin—a disabled man—who trains at SBG Ireland.

Rankin suffers from Spina Bifida. In other words, his right leg is paralyzed from top to bottom. The condition forces him to wear a splint and hinders his training. Often, he would spend more time talking to other people than working out.

After getting kicked out of his previous gym over insurance issues, Rankin found it difficult to get himself together. However, things changed when he met Conor McGregor at McDonald’s.

What was expected to be a short encounter turned out to be a lengthy conversation. McGregor’s confidence inspired Rankin to join the SBG gym. Since then, he has been training along with the biggest star in Ireland.
