“He Has Failed Multiple Drug Tests”:- Chris Weidman Questions Jon Jones’ Legacy

When you make a list of some of the greatest fighters in the history of the sports there are a few names who are going to be on most of the lists. Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, George St Pierre are a few of those names. They have done enough in this sport to be considered a GOAT. However, how many of them have no questions around their greatness or their unprecedented achievements? Jon Jones has failed multiple drug tests throughout his career and so did the former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva. Well, Chris Weidman points it out before his light heavyweight debut when he was asked whether Jones can still be considered the greatest of all time.

The former middleweight champion does believe that Jon Jones has an impressive resume that can put him on the top of the pound for pound greatest list, however, the failed drug tests have certainly taken the credibility away from Jones’s record. Weidman said:

“As far him being a GOAT, if you look at his record who he has beaten and how he has done it, yeah he is the GOAT.”

“I am like a casual fan when it comes to everything he did and failed, and I don’t know everything behind it, the picogram and all that crap, and I have not investigated 100 percent. But if you put the drug test and stuff out there, at the end of the day, he has failed multiple drug tests. I think anytime you do that it puts an asterisk on your whole career.”

Chris Weidman also compared Jon Jones failed drug tests scenario with the former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva who has failed tests for PEDs in the past too. Weidman believes that anytime a fighter fails a drug test, it raises a question on their greatness. 

“Same thing with Anderson Silva. He has failed drug tests too for performance-enhancing. You have to put a question on the rest of their career.”

Chris Weidman is going to make his light heavyweight debut against Dominick Reyes in the main event of UFC Boston. Although this would be the first fight for Weidman in 205, a win over undefeated and ranked 4 Light heavyweight, Reyes will most likely get him a title shot against the reigning champion, Jon Jones.
