Justin Gaethje’s manager believes that Tony Ferguson should retire.

Not even a week ago, Ferguson found himself in one of the toughest fights of his career. The “Boogeyman” found it difficult to get into his rhythm. Although he did land almost the same amount of significant strikes as Gaethje, they were far less effective and he couldn’t get anything going.

Every time Ferguson tried to draw Gaethje into a firefight, he was made to pay the price. Justin’s manager—who also manages Khabib Nurmagomedov—thinks that it’s time for Ferguson to retire.

Ferguson has been competing as a pro mixed martial artist since 2008. Throughout his career, he has defeated some of the very best competitors in the sport. His work ethic and discipline have allowed him to compete at the top even in his late thirties.

Prior to the Gaethje fight, he was on a 12-fight win streak and almost on the verge of competing against Nurmagomedov. But after watching his fight against Gaethje, many critics including Ali believe that he should hang up his gloves.

“When you take an a**-whooping that Tony Ferguson did, I think he’s never gonna be the same. If he had fought Khabib also, he would’ve never been the same,” Ali told TMZ Sports.

“He had a great run but I think when you get beat up like that, you’ll never recover from this beating. And I think he should retire. What else he needs to accomplish?

“Or maybe he can have a senior citizen match with guys like McGregor,” he added. “To fight a guy like [Conor] McGregor, you have to be coming off two losses. Maybe he and Tony can fight.” Sarcastic laughter followed.

However, it wasn’t all negativity coming out of Ali’s mouth this time. The manager did acknowledge Tony’s accomplishments. And showed concerns towards his family.

“He takes a lot of damage. This guy has a family. I don’t wanna see him drinking soup out of a straw. This is my opinion. If he was my guy, I’d be like ‘Yo! You gotta retire.’ ”
