Former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington touched upon various aspects of the fight game in conversation with Submission Radio. ‘Chaos’ has been the center of attention regarding whether he will be a late replacement option to fight Kamaru Usman. The main event of UFC 251 saw a cancellation as Usman’s opponent Gilbert Burns tested positive for COVID-19.
The All-American wrestler used this platform and expressed his views on a variety of topics. He went on to address his former teammate Dustin Poirier and expressed his willingness to fight the lightweight.

Poirier managed to bounce back after failing to unify his interim lightweight title against Khabib Nurmagomedov in September of 2019. It appears as though there is no love lost between the former ATT teammates.

“Before he was talking about coming up to 70, I’m sure if he would’ve lost to that Hooker from Australia he would have no choices and he would have come up to 170. He would’ve seen daddy. Now he thinks he has some choices at lightweight. He thinks he’ll get a Khabib which he’ll never get. He thinks he’ll get the rematch with Conor which he’ll never get a big fight.”

Colby Covington has expressed a desire to square off against a multitude of different fighters in and around his weight class. However, it’s safe to assume a rematch for the 170-pound gold strap will be at the forefront of his mind.
