Anthony Johnson earlier came out of retirement and was planning on fighting on the heavyweight division. However, recently he showed his intentions to try and cut weight for 205 for a super fight with Jon Jones. As per Johnson, there is no animosity between him and Jones and he believes Jon Jones is the best fighter. Hence he wants that fight in his legacy.

Well, Jon Jones is certainly interested in that fight if Anthony Johnson can hold his side of the bargain. However, Jones has issued a warning that it’s not going to be a successful UFC return for Johnson if he chooses to fight Jones.

Jon Jones earlier came up with the statement:

“We have always been cool but I’ll be more than happy to choke you out if that’s what you are looking for”

During the time away from the sports, Anthony Johnson invested meaningful effort into bodybuilding and at the moment he is around 235 lbs. So cutting down to the light heavyweight is going to be a tough task for the former title contender for sure.

“But that was a fight, that’s why I went up to 205, man. I was like, ‘That’s the guy I want,’ and then when I get my heartbroken and I got to fight D.C. it’s not as motivating. The fight was not in me to fight DC, I fought him. I kind of fought him. But it just was not the same drive” said Anthony Johnson in a recent interview.

Anthony Johnson and Jon Jones were supposed to fight on UFC 214 before Jones was stripped due to the hit and run incident and Johnson ended up facing Daniel Cormier instead. With the return of Johnson to the sport, it certainly makes sense to make this fight happen since there are not many exciting fights in the light heavyweight division for Jon Jones at the moment.
