Daniel Cormier vs Brock Lesnar was one of the mega fights that came close to happening. Well, at least we had the two in the Octagon cutting a beautiful promo for their fight. With Cormier firmly retired, the fight goes into the books as one of the big what-ifs. However, DC isn’t ending his pursuit of Brock Lesnar just yet.

Brock Lesnar has just finished his contract with the WWE. Consequently, there were rumors of the former UFC heavyweight champ’s return to the promotion. While nothing is clear on that front yet, the possibility of a fight between Cormier and Lesnar would pique the interest of a lot of fans.

When Ariel Helwani asked Daniel Cormier if he would be interested to break his retirement for a fight with Lesnar, DC replied negatively. However, that doesn’t mean he is not interested in a fight with Lesnar. Instead, the former double champ now wants to pursue Brock into the WWE.

I wanna wrestle with Brock in WWE. That’s where I wanna fight him. I wanna fight him on his terms,” Cormier said on the latest episode of DC and Helwani.

I don’t want two old guys in the UFC Octagon going at it, 43 and 41. That seems fun. But boy, me and Brock at WrestleMania. That would be a good time,” he added.

Cormier’s friend and AKA stablemate, Cain Velasquez, has already made that switch. Therefore, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine him doing the same. In case Cormier ever ends up fighting Lesnar in the WWE, he wants his friend and co-host Ariel Helwani to go along with him.

So what I want you to do is, we’re gonna talk our talk. We’ll be like, Brock, you were so afraid that we had to follow you in your world. We wanted this. You never showed up Brock. I waited and then retired. So I showed up into your world,” Cormier said.

Once the match starts, we’re just gonna cheat him. The whole time I want you cheating him. I want you tripping him, I want you getting in the side of the apron distracting him. I just want you giving me a chance to beat Brock Lesnar,” he added.

While all this is mere talk right now, looking at Cormier makes one believe that he can pull this off anytime he wants. With the right amount of build-up, Lesnar vs Cormier at WrestleMania isn’t very hard to imagine down the line.
