News about Khabib Nurmagomedov pulling out of the fight at UFC 249 on 18th April shook the MMA world. The much-awaited fight has been booked by the UFC on 4 previous occasions. However, it has failed to materialize every single time. Khabib in a recent interview hit back at people who have been hounding him of late.

There has been a lot of talk about Khabib having ties and connections in the Russian government. And that he has the ability to get a private plane to travel to the venue of the fight. However, most of these claims are nothing more than baseless rumors, says the undisputed champion. He blasts people for making such ridiculous claims while thousands of people are suffering and so many people have died.

“Because I am a champion, they have to give me a private plane. It’s like people so stupid. Right now we talk about like thousands people die. I have to call Vladimir Putin, please give me a plane. Then I have to call Donald Trump, please give me permission to go in. It’s like too much crazy stuff.”- Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib adds that the governments of the United States and Russia have made arrangements for their respective passport holders to come back to their home country. However, they are exclusively meant for those people who are stuck in a foreign nation, away from home.

He tries to justify his stand by taking up Jon Jones’ case of DWI as an example. He explains Jones and himself are not privy to special treatment just because they are popular celebrities or champions in their divisions.

The Dagestani fighter stresses on the fact that he is certain that this fight will take place, eventually. He claims that he is the one who wants this fight the most. He assures fans that if the UFC is successful in finalizing a location for the fight, he would definitely appear for it.
