Ahead of his bout against Kamaru Usman at UFC 251, Jorge Masvidal’s coach Mike Brown tested positive for the Coronavirus. As a result, the 44-year-old will not corner Masvidal during his match with Usman. In a recent interview, “Gamebred” gave an update on Brown’s health.

Brown has been training  Masvidal for a long time now. His recent positive test saddened Masvidal. However, the Cuban-American is happy that Brown is asymptomatic. According to the BMF champion, Brown is not even coughing.

Besides that, Masvidal revealed that he has been in touch with Brown since he tested positive.

“Yeah, yeah. I am talking to him all the time. He’s good. Thank God he is asymptomatic. There are no symptoms. He’s good. Doesn’t even have a cold or a cough or anything. He is great.”

Furthermore, the 35-year-old said that American Top Team owner Dan Lambert has tightened up the rules.

“It sucks man. Dan Lambert’s been doing a great job of not letting nobody into the gym. Just the guys that… ‘You got a fight. And you have a contract’ can get into this gym. So I’m assuming it’s gonna be like a communist regime over there. He’s gonna run a real tight sh*t to make sure that all of us stay healthy.”

Jorge Masvidal’s coach is heartbroken

In a recent interview with ESPN Brown said, “Just heartbroken I’m not going to see Jorge win the world championship in person. Nobody deserves it more than this guy. Nobody has paid more dues. Jorge is also one of the most thoughtful athletes I’ve ever met.

“He makes everyone feel they are with him and a huge part of this journey. The truth is this guy has been honing his skills for more than 20 years and developed one of the highest fight IQs the sport has ever seen. As far as being COVID positive, I feel good. The only pain I feel is in my heart.”
