“Everything That I Loved… Everything Was Stripped From Me” – Ronda Rousey’s Ideal MMA Opponent Gina Carano Breaks Silence on Cancel Culture

Gina Carano, a pioneer of women’s MMA, is in the news lately because of UFC Hall of Fame Ronda Rousey respectfully calling her out for a contest. Meanwhile, ‘Conviction’ also has a movie coming up with UFC athlete Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone which is getting a lot of attention in MMA and the world media. Amid all the fanfare she is earning lately, she talked about her challenging experience last year.

The MMA fighter-turned-actress spoke to Fox News about her new movie, cancel culture, how she dealt with it, and getting support from the fans during her tough time.

When asked about how she feels about cancel culture, Carano answered, “I feel like cancel culture is extremely dangerous. I think it starts putting us on the line of kind of like a social credit score. And … corporations are going to win that battle.”

Lucasfilm axed Gina Carano from the Disney+ show ‘The Mandalorian’ after she made some controversial comments on her social handles.

Carano talked about how the movie ‘Terror on the Prairie’ was’ like closure of a particularly painful experience’.

“When I was canceled, I felt like everything was turned against me. Everything that I loved was just against me. I was fighting for my name. I just felt like everything was stripped from me.”

The 40-year-old said her role as Hattie McAllister, a strong mother who defends her kids from criminals when all the chips are down, was like a ‘therapy’ to her.

Gina Carano, the former WEF, Strikeforce, and EliteXC athlete, has a 7-1 MMA record. ‘Conviction’ was a Muay Thai specialist. Her only loss in professional MMA came against the women’s GOAT, Cris Cyborg. She lost the bout via first-round KO/TKO at the final buzzer (Round 1, 4:59).

Carano moved from competing in mixed martial arts in 2009 after the Cyborg loss. Though she had a bout scheduled against Sarah D’Alelio in 2011, she wasn’t medically cleared, and the bout was scrapped. Thus, the 40-year-old movie star is out of the active MMA competition for nearly 13 years.

Ronda Rousey, on the other hand, who idolizes Carano, competed for the UFC and Strikeforce promotions and was a dominant champion in both promotions. She last competed at UFC 207 against Amanda Nunes. After the loss, she moved to pro wrestling and found similar success in the WWE as in her UFC run.

Though a showdown between these two megastars will be a remarkable event for the UFC, getting them inside the Octagon could prove a hefty task.
