Ronda Rousey Explains Why She’d Rather Watch NASCAR Than a Women’s UFC Fight

Ronda Rousey apparently doesn’t watch UFC fights anymore. The former UFC bantamweight champion gave an example of NASCAR to describe why she could watch that sport but not the one where she received the promotion’s Hall of Fame.

Rowdy‘ made it possible for women today to compete in the UFC. The premier MMA organization’s first-ever women signee and champion defended her belt 6-time while registering a record time to do so; That will be hard to match for any male or female fighter. She averages 3.06 minutes of average time in her UFC career. Besides, all of her fighters were five-round championship bouts.

The only two losses in her UFC & MMA career came right at the end of her journey in combat sports. The losses were devastating to her. And in a recent interview with Daniel Cormier, she hinted it remains part of her life.

When Cormier asked ‘Rowdy’ about her thoughts on Julianna Pena‘s upset win over Amanda Nunes. Rousey said, “I mean, not really. No, I honestly didn’t watch. I don’t really watch fights. I know too many people on every card. You know it’s different.”

She then gave an example and said, “It’s like NASCAR, you know, I don’t know all these people in the car smash… But like when you, like care about every person; It like means something to you.”

Rousey explained why she wouldn’t watch a UFC fight anymore and said, “It’s like, I can’t disassociate myself the way I used to… And watch somebody get you to know have a bad day and be like well the other guy looked great then. I always feel for the other person. Like then, I feel I hate losing so much more than I love winning.”

Ronda Rousey had a tough time accepting defeat

The first women’s Olympic medalist (Bronze) in Judo for the United States, Ronda Rousey found immediate success in the UFC. She was undefeated before arriving in the promotion. And after coming to the UFC, she was dominant as well.

After 6 back-to-back title defenses, Rousey lost to Holly Holm at UFC 193, and she didn’t receive the loss well. The ex-bantamweight champion avoided media and didn’t give a statement about her loss. Even in her return bout at UFC 207 against Amanda Nunes, she didn’t appear the same ahead of the bout. And after her second straight loss, she retired from the sport.

However, she has recently hinted to return against Gina Carano.
