US Open 2019 Wild Card List

The final Grand Slam of the season, the US Open 2019 is upon us as the tennis world turn their heads towards the Queens for some exciting tennis. The US Open 2019 is scheduled to start from the August 26 and the draws are already out on Thursday. Earlier, The USTA had announced eight US Open 2019 wild card entries each for the men’s and women’s main draw.

Former world No.8 and 2017 ATP Finals Singles qualifier, Jack Sock leads the 2019 US Open wild card entry list. The American missed more than six months of the 2019 season after tearing two ligaments in his thumb during a practice at the Australian Open 2019.

Jack Sock also lost the first round of the Atlanta Open and the Citi Open. He also lost the qualifying round at the Western and Southern Open 2019 in Cincinnati. Sock will face Pablo Cuevas in the first round of the US Open 2019.

Zachary Svajda, a 16-year-old American will make his tour-level debut at the US Open 2019. He earned the wild card entry by winning the USTA Boys under 18 National Championship.

Christopher Eubanks also received a lucky wild card entry at the US Open 2019 as Denis Kudla’s wild card was reallocated to him following the withdrawal of Juan Martin Del Potro, who was replaced by Kudla in the main draw.

The other wild cards are Bjorn Fratangelo, Marcos Giron, Ernesto Escobedo. The two non-American wild card entries imcluded the Australian, Thanasi Kokkinakis and the Frenchman, Antoine Hoang.

On the women’s side, Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff leads the 2019 US Open wild card entry list. The 15-year-old American earned a direct entry into the women’s main draw after her recent success at the Wimbledon Championships 2019 and Washington Open 2019. Gauff will face the Russian, Anastasia Potapova in the first round of the US Open 2019.

Earlier, Coco Gauff had upset her compatriot, Venus Williams in the fourth round of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. She also reached a career-high ranking of world No. 141 in the WTA ranking following her success at Wimbledon.

Francesca Di Lorenzo, Whitney Osuigwe, Kristie Ahn, and Katie Volynets are the other four Americans, who also received wild card entries in the main draw.

The two non-American wild cards included the US Open 2011 champion, Samantha Stosur and the French, Diane Parry.
