“We’ll Buy the Whole of Hong Kong” Bruce Lee Once Made a Confession to His Wife Days After Signing an Exclusive Hollywood Contract

Born in California, martial arts expert Bruce Lee was a popular actor. The Way of the Dragon, Fist of Fury, and Game of Death are some of his popular movies. Once, Bruce Lee made a surprising statement to his wife about one of the biggest, exclusive contracts he had received.

The contract would help him not only grow in his financial career but also improve his personal life. Bruce Lee also spoke about how the project was unique and gave various suggestions about the project. These revelations were made by Matthew Poly in his biography of Bruce Lee.

Martial Arts expert Bruce Lee’s candid revelations 

Bruce Lee signed an exclusive contract with William Dozier for a remuneration of $18,000. This money would help him to go on a honeymoon trip, which the couple earlier couldn’t afford. “We’ll buy the whole of Hong Kong”, Lee told his wife. Further adding, he promised to make the trip memorable for his wife.

The martial arts legend and his wife chose to travel in May. They also took their son, Brandon with them.

Bruce Lee also disclosed the project ‘Number One Son’ which he and Dozier were working on. Though the project was on hold earlier, work on the project again began after Lee’s return from his trip. However, unfortunately, the project didn’t work and Dozier decided to cast Lee in ‘The Green Hornet.’

The champion at martial arts also told about how he attended the Long Beach International Karate Tournament in 1967. Later, he chose to take William Belasco as his agent for his career in Hollywood. 

Martial Arts Legend’s Career in movies

Lee did karate and kickboxing sequences in the 1969 movie Marlowe. Later, his fame spread after the release of the movie Fists of Fury in the year 1971. Afterward, he also founded his own production company, which became a huge success. The Game of Death was Bruce Lee’s final film.
