“Carl Lewis Only Won 100m Twice”: Usain Bolt Claims His Olympics Form Will Stay Unmatched

Most athletes dream of reaching the heights that Usain Bolt climbed to in his career. He won eight gold medals in the Olympic Games, dominating the track and field for over a decade. Arguably, the best athlete in the world, Bolt set the bar so high, his records stay untouched to date.
In a recent interview, Bolt analyzed his performances during his sprinting career and why he wanted to win more than any other athlete.

In terms of his competition, only one sprinter to date comes close to his caliber, and that is Carl Lewis. Moreover, Lewis won the long jump for four consecutive Olympic Games, thereby claiming he might be the greatest after all.
Usain Bolt, the best by a mile?
In a recent interview, Usain opened up on being compared to Carl Lewis, who won nine Olympic gold medals.
“I’ve won at three Olympics. Back-to-back-to-back. That’s something that, if somebody wants to beat that, they have to be well focused. If you want to beat that you have to be on another level because I set the bar high,” said Bolt.

Bolt is right. For years, he created different world records and won over a dozen accolades. Notably, he won three consecutive gold medals in three different competitions, consecutively. Even though he showed his love to Lewis, who achieved outstanding plaudits in the track and field himself, he also stated the difference between the two.
“Carl Lewis came and he only won the 100-meter twice. He didn’t get the 200-meters and I did that. People thought that was crazy, I’m like Nah. If I win the next one now, because that’s how I look at things,” said Bolt.

Both are unique in their own way
Although Lewis did not win two events in three years, his achievements on the track are legendary. He won the long jump competition from 1984 Olympics to 1996 Olympics, displaying unreal consistency. However, Bolt still believes he himself was on a different level altogether.

“But if you look in the history books, how many won the Olympics back-to-back three times? Just me,” said Bolt.
