US Track Legend Allyson Felix Is Returning Back to Track for a Special Reason

How long can she keep going at this rate? Allyson Felix is a legend of athletics. Despite being 36, she continues to perform at the highest level, and the supermom returns. After the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Felix ended her Olympic career and won 11 medals. She won the bronze medal for the 400-meters and took home the gold medal in the 4×400 m relay for Team USA.

After all the success in Tokyo, she returns to compete in the 300-meters competition on April 30th at Penn Relays. It is the first meet she will take part in after her successful Olympic Games. Felix will yet again hit the tracks, aiming to win more medals.

Allyson Felix returns

Being one of the most decorated athletes in the sport’s history, Felix has aged like fine wine. She returns to the track but won’t compete in another Olympic Games. With the 2024 Olympics being held in Paris, Felix opened up on not appearing for the sporting event. However, she spoke about considering the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, which might be her last sprinting sessions on the track. The World Championships returning to her homeland would be great for her to end her career in style if he plans for it.

It is the first time that the World Outdoor Championships are coming to the US. Hence, fans are excited to see what’s in store for them as well. Competing at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in June would be needed for her to qualify. Her dominance in the events is still up there with the best. She tied and broke Carl Lewis’ record for most U.S. Olympic track and field medals. Thus, the World Championships in Oregon will be an event to look forward to.

Records kept tumbling in Tokyo

Apart from that, she broke her tie with Jamaican athlete Merlene Ottey for the most medals for a female athlete on track and field. Likewise, she also became the first track and field athlete to win medals at five different Olympics. That’s just an insane record. The 400-meters also saw her running 49.46, which was her second-fastest time ever in the event.

Felix’s achievements are just stunning. The passion and determination showcased throughout her career is a role model for young aspiring athletes. It would be great to see her competing for probably might be her last event in her career; or, is it?
