Barry Bonds Likely to Miss Out on Last Chance at MLB Hall of Fame

MLB legend, Barry Bonds retired back in 2007, drawing the curtain on an astonishing 22-year career. History is proof that Barry Bonds was as famed as Babe Ruth, courtesy of his heroics on the field.

Interestingly, despite his incredible reputation, he is yet to be named a Hall of Famer. Unfortunately, the 2022 Hall of Fame is his last shot at getting voted for the same.

Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Curt Schilling have low chances of being elected

Barry Bonds has played for Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants during his 22-year MLB career. However, he is yet to mark his name as a Hall of Famer. Notably, he has consecutively missed out on being elected to the Hall of Fame nine times. The Baseball Writer’s Association of America votes for the Hall of Fame.

According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, he might now miss out for the 10th time, which is sadly his last opportunity. Buster wrote, ”23% of the Hall of Fame ballots accounted for, and if the current trajectory holds, Bonds, Clemens, Schilling will not be elected this year, the 10th and final for each on the writers’ ballot. Bonds, Clemens not getting major bumps among returning voters.”

Reports state it is a setback from his controversies, leading to fewer votes for him. However, one cannot deny the huge contribution Barry has made to the sport.

Barry Bonds’ career highlights

While Barry might not clinch the Hall of Fame title, he has secured many other awards and titles during his astonishing career. Barry has been an All-Star 14 times and has won the NL MVP seven times. Incredibly, he has 8 Gold Glove awards, 12 Silver Slugger awards, 3 NL Hank Aaron awards (which is rarely presented.)

The former left fielder also has many MLB records under his belt. Barry has smashed 762 home runs overall in his career, and 73 home runs in one season. And, above all, he was one of the best all-around players in baseball history. Regardless, he is on the verge of losing the last chance of becoming a Hall of Famer.
