The International Olympic Committee’s permanent chair of the disciplinary commission, Denis Oswald, spoke to the reporters on the incident, and the reasons have left everyone in disbelief.

“Her argument was this contamination happened with a product her grandfather was taking,” said Oswald.

To sum up, the whole situation is a mess. Significantly, she talked about being “happy” after the decision but “emotionally tired” after the controversial incident. Hence, questions have been raised about the consistency of the decision. When Sha’Carri Richardson tested positive by the Anti-Doping Agency, they imposed a ban on her for 30 days, forcing her to miss the Tokyo Olympics. Valieva talked about the incident which made her dejected.

“These [past] days have been very difficult for me. It’s as if I don’t have any emotions left. I am happy but at the same time I am emotionally tired,” said Valieva.
