Arnold Schwarzenegger has been in a pool of controversies ever since the news of him cheating on his wife Maria came out in 2011. Prior to his relationship with Maria, the bodybuilding legend met Barbara Outland Baker for the first time in July 1969 in San Diego. After a few meetings, they both began dating. Barbara was Arnold’s first girlfriend, and they were together for six years.

Barbara spoke to the daily mail about their relationship and told her opinion on Arnold’s cheating scandal. “This is his rock bottom, maybe he will find his true self now, but I don’t have a lot of confidence. I care for him and wish him the best”, she said referring to Arnold’s cheating scandal with his former wife, Maria.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Ex-Wife Maria Shriver Once Got a Banned Expensive Gift for Him From Former Cuban President

The news of Arnold cheating on Maria with his housekeeper staggered his ex-girlfriend. Giving her opinion on the scandal, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-girlfriend slammed the bodybuilding legend by saying “It’s the height of betrayal – it’s a double betrayal for Maria that he cheated with a woman she trusted”. She felt deep compassion for his kids too as they would be immensely affected by this.

Arnold’s take on the scandal

After the scandal came to light in 2011, it became a topic for discussion in the media. Initially, both Arnold and Maria declined to speak on the scandal but later gave interviews where they revealed what had happened. Arnold admitted in his book that ‘he still loved his ex-wife. During an interview with CBS news on the show, ’60 minutes‘ Arnold said, “She has been an extraordinary woman, extraordinary wife, friend, lover, everything. She did not deserve that and that’s why I have always felt terrible about that.” 

Arnold hoped that his kids would forgive him. “As time goes on, I hope that everyone will forgive me for that”, he said. He refused to speak about the relationship of his children with their half-brother. Schwarzenegger believed that not speaking on that topic would be better as he did not want to cause his children any more pain.
