She is currently basking in the success of her Oscar-winning performance in the movie ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’. But the award was long overdue for Jamie Lee Curtis. The 63-year-old actress has never been shy of taking a bold step and has always pushed the envelope when it came to empowerment. Even if it meant performing a striptease for bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger in a movie.

Nearly three decades ago, James Cameron made one of the most thrilling spy action comedy films of all time. The movie received widespread acclaim for its creative amalgamation of action with comedy. But it also featured one of the boldest scenes in cinema. Last year, she looked back on that scene and detailed her experience filming it.

It was a very nervous day in the shoot for Jamie Lee Curtis

“It was very early on in the shooting schedule, which made me a little anxious because it meant I should probably stop eating whatever the f*ck I was eating and maybe do a couple of sit-ups, but I didn’t have time. There was no choreographer, and we only rehearsed it in the sense that we were made aware of the camera placement and marks to hit”, said Jamie Lee Curtis to Prevention magazine on January 14, 2022.

The Knives Out star was nervous about shooting that scene and relied on her comedic sense to pull it off. The scene begins with Curtis wearing a black outfit and entering a dimly lit room, with Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s character Harry Tasker sitting in a chair. Tasker’s face isn’t visible in the dark, as Curtis’ character Helen starts undressing. She eventually lies in bed in her lingerie, as Tasker approaches her. Eventually, Helen escapes from there, but not without giving Tasker a few good kicks.

“Arnold Couldn’t Have Been Sweeter”: Arnold Schwarzenegger Reunites With Jamie Lee Curtis After 28 Years of ‘True Lies’ Release

Despite action-packed scenes like Schwarzenegger chasing down a motorcycle on a horseback, and a fight on top of a harrier jump jet, the Jamie Lee Curtis striptease has gone on to be one of the most memorable scene from the film. The scene, as sensuous as it is, also breaks out into moments of humor when Curtis falls during her dance.

Looking back, Curtis only has fond memories of the film

In the film, Curtis plays a legal secretary. Her husband Schwarzenegger is a double agent struggling to balance his spy life with family duties. Curtis isn’t ashamed or embarrassed about the scene. She instead calls it, “a powerful experience that nobody else could take credit for”.

To give her credit, Curtis did manage to pull off the scene in a way not many could’ve done. Last year, when Curtis was honored with the handprint ceremony at the Chinese Grauman Theater, Schwarzenegger graced the occasion. It was a mini-reunion for the two, where Schwarzenegger hailed his leading lady for being equal to him in the film.

It was 1994 when True Lies was released, and it’s 2023 now when Curtis received an Oscar. After being for decades in the business, Jamie Lee Curtis is still entertaining the audience.
