Lance Armstrong has been a friend of American actor Matthew McConaughey. The Academy and Golden Glove award-winning actor has been dropping hints about his desire to run for the Texas governor’s election.

The cycling icon Lance Armstrong has always been supportive of his friend and will do the same if Matthew decides to run for the governor’s seat. However, he is skeptical if Matthew would enjoy this new path.

Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey, both hail from Austin, Texas. Coming from the same roots, the athlete and actor share a close bond.

In an interview with Axios Austin, Lance was asked about his long-time buddy being interested in running for the Texas governor in the upcoming elections; however, Matthew has not confirmed it yet. Lance revealed he has no clue about it, but if McConaughey decided to run, he will do it with full determination.

Lance said, “I’ve never asked him. If he wants to do something, he’ll certainly try to do it. I don’t know he’d enjoy that at the end of the day. If he said, ‘I’ve thought about this, prayed about it, talked to my friends and family,’ I’d support him. It wouldn’t be a stunt or a dare. He would be fully in it.”

Running for the second most populated American city is a huge decision, and Matthew has to make the decision by December 13. But, looking back at everything he has done in his career, he seems a good fit for the position. He’s not only an actor but a philanthropist as well.
