“So Sorry To Hear”: Fighting Horrifying Injury, 48-Year-Old Olympic Equestrian Leaves Sports World Shattered

Canadian athlete, Jonathon Millar is a professional jumper who competes in the Olympics. He was also placed among the 50 best contenders at the FEI World Equestrian Games, while his team ranked fifth. Unfortunately, the skilled equestrian met with a gruesome accident this Saturday. He was severely injured and rushed to a hospital in West Palm Beach.

In a Facebook post by Millar Brooke South, a branch of the Millar Brooke Farm, an update on the athlete’s state was brought to light. It revealed that Millar was stable and is presently under constant surveillance in the ICU. Even though he is out of risk at the moment, the upcoming days are pivotal in his recovery. Fans quickly sent in their prayers to the grieving family in the comments section.

As per the social media update, the 48-year-old icon suffered from a head injury this week. He was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Florida and underwent brain surgery. Apparently, a hemorrhage led to internal bleeding and swelling in his brain which had to be treated urgently. The post acknowledged the heartfelt comments from fans wishing for the athlete with a descriptive caption. 

The post further revealed that the Olympian’s condition is improving over time. Although, the next few days remain uncertain, it pushed fans and well-wishers to pray for Millar’s quick recovery. “Keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers,” a part of the caption read.

Besides, the entire Millar family and his dear ones were moved by the love and support poured in by the fans and the sports community as a whole. The update also hinted at Jon’s affectionate and kind nature saying, “he is strong and he is a fighter!” The equestrian center assured to update fans at every step of the recovery, however, asserted that their priority shall be to focus on Millar’s well-being for now.

A collective message of love and prayers took over the comments section. One fan wrote, “Fingers crossed for you.” Whereas another stated, “Sending strength, love, and prayers for a speedy and full recovery!!” An elaborate comment read, “That is terrible news, so sorry to hear of his accident. Sending healing thoughts and hoping for a speedy recovery.”

Other reactions primarily prayed for Millar and the family, sending in their blessings and positivity. “Thinking of you Jonathon and Kelly,” a heartwarming note read. In another unfortunate incident, notable Olympian, Anne Goodwin lost her life in a cross-country accident, days ahead of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020
