Despite Nathan Chen’s Absence, Team USA Clinches History at World Figure Skating Championships 2022

Going into the World Figure Skating Championships, team USA was without their strongest soldier, Nathan Chen. However, the absence of the best figure skater in the world didn’t stop them from winning. Once again, the US figure skating team proved that every member of the team is as phenomenal as the Olympic champion himself.

With athletes like Alysa Liu, Vincent Zhou, Madison Hubbell, and Zachary Donohue leading the campaign, winning medals in the world championship was inevitable. It was not an individual victory but rather a team effort that distinguished team USA from the rest of the participants.

Team USA made history in the World Figure Skating Championships 2022

It was a proud moment for the team as it clenched medals in all four disciplines in the World Figure Skating Championships for the first time since 1967. In the men’s event, Vincent Zhou won bronze, while in her Worlds debut Alysa Liu also won a bronze medal in the women’s category. The team further won gold as Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier took their team to victory in pairs.

In the ice dance event, the duo Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue secured silver medals while Madison Chock and Evan Bates won bronze medals in the same event.

After winning the bronze, Vincent Zhou said, “I feel very, very proud of myself. A week ago, I wouldn’t have thought any of this was possible. But I got myself on the plane, I got myself together, I took it one practice at a time, and now I put out two strong performances.”

When Adam Rippon named Alysa Liu as the “Simone Biles of figure skating” he was indeed very right in doing so. The youngest US national champion is the most promising figure skater for Team USA in the coming future. She was part of the Olympics team as well. However, it was in the world championship that she won everyone’s attention.

Alysa is an incredible athlete, and she has a bright future ahead. After winning a bronze medal in her first-ever World Figure Skating Championships, she has proved her potential to everyone.
