Simone Biles was already one of the greatest gymnasts in history before the Rio Olympics in 2016. But her five medal haul, with four of them gold, cemented her GOAT status on the biggest stage in the sport. She became a household name in America, and her fan following has only grown since then.
And while fame comes with its drawbacks, there are certainly some advantages to being an American treasure as well. And Biles has enjoyed a couple of incidents where her GOAT status worked to her advantage outside the gymnasium.

Simone Biles narrates how her fame got her out of trouble
Hanging out at the Young Hollywood studios, Simone Biles indulged in a game of Never Have I Ever with the host, and dished on exciting experiences. She revealed that she has indeed gotten out of a situation because someone knew who she was.
She explained, “I was driving really fast on the Hardy Toll Road to get home. And this cop pulled me over, but he let me go.” That’s right. The gymnastics legend got out of a speeding ticket because the officer that stopped her turned out to be a big fan.

Though the interview tailed Biles’ dominating victory at the Rio Olympic Games, the gymnast’s stardom began years before. She won her first world all-around title in 2013, the season she made her senior debut. By 2015, she already had the highest gold medal count in World Championship history.
Currently, Simone Biles has a total of 32 Olympic and World Championship medals. The 4-foot-8-inch tall Texas native has four moves named after her. Even after withdrawing from most of her events at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she still brought home two medals, tying Sharon Miller for the most Olympic medals won by an American gymnast.

For the Super Bowl LI held in Houston, Texas, Simone Biles became Inside Edition’s Special Super Bowl Correspondent. Though her job dictated getting interviews of the players, Biles ended up spending most of the time responding to requests by fans.

The opening night was eventful as hundreds of reporters from different media houses geared up to talk to the players. But Simone Biles proved to be a big distraction. Taking selfies with fans outside and the press members inside, everyone sought her out. Even players got their pictures taken with the gymnast.
The real kicker? When Biles got the opportunity to interview NFL legend Tom Brady, he acknowledged her as the GOAT. “There’s the GOAT. Right there,” he said as Biles began her question.
