Jackie Chan is one of the greatest martial artists, and one can say that he is the epitome of dedication and resilience. Jackie Chan lived away from his father for a long time in a hostel. Thus, he knows the value of discipline in life and aspires to the development of the same in his children. However, Chan’s ways of teaching lessons can be a little hard to digest.

In his biography, ‘Never Grow Old’, Chan has dedicated a whole chapter describing his approach toward fatherhood and the trajectory of his relationship with his son Jaycee Chan.

Jackie Chan punished Jaycee to teach him a lesson

Jackie Chan always believed that discipline is what makes people civilized. He is also a staunch supporter of learning from others’ experiences and improving. Chan always wanted a holistic development of his son. He revealed himself to have taken some extreme decisions to teach Jaycee about the value of discipline and punctuality in life.

Jackie Chan recalled an incident when he went too far while punishing Jaycee. Chan revealed a time when he threw Jaycee. He wrote, “When he was two years old, I threw him”. As a result, Jaycee developed a sense of fear of his father. Jackie further added that Jaycee stills get alert when Jackie is not in a good mood. “He gets frightened whenever he hears me give him an order,” he wrote.

Jackie once announced donating his entire wealth of approximately 400 million dollars instead of inherently passing it to Jaycee. He believed that Jaycee should make his own money rather than just get the advantage of his father’s name and fame. Chan had to struggle in the initial days of his fatherhood because of the fear that developed in Jaycee’s mind.
