“I’m Not a Good Dad, but…”: Despite Refusing to Leave $400 Million Wealth for His Son, Jackie Chan Made an Astonishing Disclosure on Him in 2015

The King of action comedy, Jackie Chan is well-renowned for his acting prowess and flair for martial arts. However, with his autobiographical account, Jackie has now made his life more transparent with his fans. He logged every nook and cranny of his life in his autobiography. From his vulnerabilities to his childhood dreams, the legend has penned everything. The 68-year-old also profoundly discussed his rather intriguing relationship with his son Jaycee.

In his memoir, Never Grow Up, Jackie Chan revealed how his on-screen acting career kept him away from Jaycee and how he tried his best to be a responsible parent.

Jackie Chan is a responsible father

Giving a gist of Jackie’s book, the 2015 LA Times report briefly documented several anecdotes from Never Grow Up. Interestingly, one instance briefly describes Jackie’s relationship with his son Jaycee. The report says that Chan, “hasn’t been a model father because he was always busy with work”.

Moreover, explaining his bond with Jaycee, Chan wrote, “When he was a kid, he could only see me around 2 a.m”, because of the actor’s busy schedule. However, Pao Pao may not be present around his family much, but he acted on his responsibilities as a father. “I’m not a good dad, but I’m a responsible dad,” penned the 68-year-old.

Jackie further elaborated, “I will be very strict in good times, support him to pull through in bad times when he is punished and aware of his mistakes”.

As per the report, in 2014, Jaycee served a sentence in jail for substance abuse. As a member of the Chinese advisory board, Chan publicly expressed his disappointment toward Jaycee by stating, “as a public figure, I feel very ashamed”. However, as a father, Jackie consoled Jaycee for his downfall by expressing his support, “I’m your dad and I’ll always be with you”.

Jackie might not have shared a great relationship with his son, while Jaycee was growing up. But, when it comes to expressing love and support, Jackie goes above and beyond for Jaycee.
