The frenzied off-season saw a variety of moves transpire in a short time. And perhaps one that dipped under the radar of higher-profile signings was Nick Castellanos’ move to the Philadelphia Phillies.

With the superstar right fielder moving to Citizens Bank Park in 2022, he will likely be expected to adorn the lineup with Bryce Harper too. And with good reason. The 2021 NL MVP played a large part in getting Castellanos to Philly.

Nick Castellanos has had a bumper performance through the years in the league, but he has copiously few trophies to show for his skill set. Harper also worked in typically effective ways, choosing to call Castellanos’ agent, Scott Boras, over the course of his signing. And to hear it from the super agent, Harper was persistent, if not anything else. “And now I don’t get four phone calls a day for the last month from Bryce Harper,” Castellanos’s agent Scott Boras said.

Castellanos too seems eager to get going in the city of Brotherly Love. “I’ve played over a thousand big league games and have zero playoff wins,” said Castellanos, “I’ve made money. I’ve hit homers, I’ve played on TV; but I haven’t won no games that matter. So I would like to do that.”

The Phillies organization will be eager to field a lineup with talents the likes of Bryce Harper and Castellanos on it, and the hope will remain that Castellanos can deliver on some playoff success, too, this year.

With the Phillies on the cusp of breaking through, could Castellanos be just what they need? How far do you think the Phillies will go in 2022?
