Major League Baseball has just started. From the opening day of the season, it seems as if this season is going to be about the underdogs. First, the Arizona Diamondbacks registered a late win over the San Diego Padres. Now, the Detroit Tigers have stunned the Chicago White Sox with a dramatic win on opening day.

MLB is nothing less than a festival for baseball fans. From the very first day of the regular season, MLB has delivered entertainment in its purest form. Be it the Yankees-Red Sox game or the Tigers-White Sox game, almost every game has been a thriller.

Talking about the Detroit Tigers, Javier Baez aka El Mago, was the difference between the Tigers’ win and White Sox’s loss. Baez hit a walk-off home run to seal the victory for the Tigers.

Notably, after his $140 million deal, this was El Mago’s debut game for the Tigers. And the Puerto Rican shortstop proved his worth in his first game of the season. Earlier in the 2022 off-season, Baez signed a six-year deal with the Detroit Tigers for a whopping $140 million.

At once, the Chicago White Sox were leading the game 3-0 against the Tigers. And in the ninth inning, the game was tied at 4-4. But, Baez hit the White Sox pitcher Liam Hendricks for a walk-off home run to the right-field wall and secured the 5-4 win for the Tigers in their opening day game.

After the game, the Tigers’ shortstop was elated with the win. He asked the Tigers’ fans to support them because it is not going to be easy in the 2022 season. “Friends, it’s not going to be easy this year. But it’s going to be fun. We need your support. Let’s go Tigers,” said El Mago.

Notably, the White Sox are the current division champions of the AL Central. While this year, teams like the Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals, and even the Cleveland Guardians have a strong roster for the season. Winning this division is not going to be a cakewalk for any side.
