MLB Announces Global Home Run Derby, New Format Tournament With Former Players and Women Star Players

MLB has announced that this year will be the debut of MLB Home Run Derby X 2022. Four teams from the MLB will take part in this tournament, which will take place across three locations on a global level. The tournament will have a new format in which women star players and former MLB players will participate.

MLB Home Run Derby created such havoc that the MLB has decided to upgrade the tournament and take it to the international level. The debut season will include new formats in terms of the field, the rules, and the teams. The tournament will include former players of the MLB, and for the first time, it will also feature women star players. Four teams, three locations, and new rules; this is going to be quite some fun.

Details of the MLB Home Run Derby X 2022

The Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Chicago Cubs will be the teams playing in the MLB Home Run Derby X 2022. The tournament will take place in London, Seoul, and Mexico City in 2022.

New Format

Field Play

  • Mounted home plate
  • Elevation of the pitcher’s mound on a podium
  • A smaller field of play
  • A padded outfield fence of more than 4ft in height

Rules and regulation

  • Earn points by hitting specific targets
  • Opponent players can earn points by catching the ball in the outfield
  • One point for every home run, catch, target hit
  • Knock-out tournament to determine a winner

  • Four players on each team
  • Player 1: Former player (Legend)
  • Player 2: Women’s baseball or softball star (Superstar)
  • Player 3: Player from the local men’s baseball team (Rookie)
  • Player 4: Content Creator (Wild Card)
