Major League Baseball is currently going through the owners’ lockout. And, even after three months of negotiations, there is no agreement between the owners and players for the new CBA.
Now, when the deadline has passed and MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has canceled a few league games, the two sides are desperate for a new deal. Because with each passing day, the problems only continue to rise in the league.

If recent reports are to be believed, then few of the MLB owners are now against the league’s last proposal to the players’ union for the new CBA.
MLB lockout negotiations to be more complicated
It is no secret that Major League Baseball has seen serious stoppage of business for over three months now. And if the players’ union and the owners don’t agree to the new CBA at the earliest, then both sides will further see major losses.
And to end this crisis in MLB, earlier on Tuesday, the owners proposed their apparently last and best offer to the players’ union for the new CBA. But it seems like, for that particular last proposal, all 30 owners were not on board.

According to Andy Martino of SNY TV, when MLB owners offered the last proposal, including the $220 million CBT threshold, a total of four owners were not in favor. But, since it requires only 23 votes to support the proposal, MLB chief negotiator, Dan Halem, proposed the offer to the players’ union. And the union still refused it, which resulted in the cancelation of league games.

The report also said, had the CBT (Competitive Balance Tax) crossed over $220 million, more owners would have refused the proposal. Notably, the current CBT threshold for MLB players is $210 million.
