Miguel Cabrera is on the way to registering his name in the MLB record book. The Detroit Tigers slugger will become the only second active player to have over 3000 hits in his name. Although there are many players who have over 3000 hits in MLB, Albert Pujols is the only active player to have such a record. And if things go his way, then Cabrera will become the second active player to do so.

Notably, the Detroit Tigers are playing a three-game series against the New York Yankees at the Comerica Park. However, the Tigers have lost the first two games against the New York Yankees.

Now, the Tigers and Cabrera have their last chance to win at least the remaining one game against the Pinstripes on Thursday. Currently, at 2999 hits, if Cabrera gets a single hit against the Yankees, he will have his name registered in the MLB record book.

Aaron Boone is fine if Miguel Cabrera achieves his milestone against the Yankees

With just one hit away from reaching the milestone, the Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone will not mind if Cabrera hits it against his team. Notably, Boone and Cabrera have played together in MLB. Earlier in 2007, Aaron Boone and Miguel Cabrera were teammates at the Miami Marlins. However, they have played just one year together in MLB.

Talking about Cabrera, Boone said that he shares a great relationship with Cabrera. The Yankees’ manager also admitted that he will not be hurt if Cabrera reaches his milestone against the Yankees.

“I love Miggy…,” Aaron Boone said. “I had a great fortune of getting to play with him, and he meant a lot to me. I have a great relationship with him. So, I know he is going to do it. It is something that he gets and you know it does not hurt us. That is fine and he will get it.”

Meanwhile, Miguel Cabrera is not worried about his personal milestone. Instead, he wants his team to win the games. Having lost the first two games of the series, Cabrera wishes to win the last game against the Yankees.
