Jonathan Owens underestimated gymnastics

More so, when Biles withdrew her name from several categories during Tokyo Olympics 2021 for her mental wellness, she received immense support from Owens. However, before this, Jonathan Owens looked down upon gymnastics as a sport. 

He confessed to Texas Monthly in a 2021 interview: “It took me a while to come to grips with how hard her sport was,” Owens continued: “When we were first together, I was like, `Man, you can’t come outside and guard these wide receivers. Gymnastics is not that hard.”
