Alex Morgan, the USWNT soccer star, is widely proclaimed for her exceptional skills, as witnessed in her role as a striker and a captain. Significantly, she became one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2019 and 2022. On the contrary, just as in the case of any player, Morgan too had a fair share of disappointments. In a recent interview, Morgan opened up on the saddest moment of her life.

Morgan has been instrumental in steering USWNST to victory in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cups. In addition to being magnificent on the field, she proved her mettle in clinching endorsement deals. In 2015, Morgan was ranked as the top-paid American women’s soccer player.

When Alex Morgan felt helpless

In a recent interview, Morgan shared the moment she felt completely dejected. She said, “In 2011, we were crushed by losing in the World Cup final.” Emphasizing the strong impact it has left on her, she stated, “It was crushing.”

Furthermore, she added they deserved to win and reiterated that it was the most disappointing, saddest moment of her life up to that point.
Then, she shared about their comeback and winning the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics. Morgan described it as “unbelievable” about having gold medals around their necks after such the disappointing year of 2011 debacle.

Notably, the soccer star scored the match-winning goal in the semi-final match against Canada at the 2012 London Olympics. With 28 goals and 21 assists in 2012, she became the youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season.

Morgan is the most endorsed female athlete of the year

Undeniably, women in sports have faced differential treatment despite their ability to bring engagement for brands they endorse. However, the narrative is changing, as seen in the spike in attendance, viewership, and social engagement for women’s sports. With 27 brand deals in 2022, the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) player boasts the highest number of deals, which is more than any NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL athlete.

By achieving this, Morgan has surpassed legends Ali Krieger, Serena Williams, and Naomi Osaka, who were the top three most-endorsed female athletes in 2021. Coca-Cola, Chipotle, Google, Michelob Ultra, and AT&T are among the many companies Morgan has endorsements with.
