“Music…Wasn’t Distracting Enough”: ‘Murder Podcasts’ Fuel Megan Rapinoe to Workout

Megan Rapinoe, the 2012 Summer Olympic Gold medalist, shed some light on her daily routine, which keeps her fit to compete at the top level. Lately, she has been in the headlines frequently. In February 2022, it was announced that she would not be included in the US women’s National team for the SheBelieves Cup.
Megan Rapinoe has been quite vocal about the issues regarding gender discrimination and even sued the United States Soccer Federation in hopes of achieving equal pay. Speaking to the Players’ Tribune, she spoke about the importance of having a healthy routine to have a long-lasting career.

What does Megan’s daily routine look like while training?
“Usually when my alarm goes off at around 7:30 or 8, I usually do a body check about how are things feeling. “she said while speaking to the Players Tribune. Every morning likes to have a breakfast sandwich, an English muffin, and two eggs. “It is the sort of a perfect blend of everything your need to get into your workout.” she believes.
“I’m a “morning workout” person, so around 11 or so, I get my workout going. If I don’t do it then, I’ll think about it all day, so I like to get it over with to start my day. Speaking about her love for podcasts, she said,” I started listening to podcasts because the music just wasn’t distracting enough from the workouts.” She mentioned that she has completed all of Serial, a murder podcast.

What are the different workouts that Megan Rapinoe does?
Speaking about the technical aspect of the workout, she said,” When I’m in my club team environment, it’s more soccer. When I’m away from that, I focus more in the gym on strength work. I try to build that base. A lot of Pilates, interval cardio work when I’m in the gym, too.”

In the later part of the day, she likes to stretch a little bit before going to bed after dinner. ” Then I like to read before bed. It calms me and makes me fall asleep. I’m usually in bed before 10 and 11 hopefully on the 10 side, as early as possible. Sleep is like the most important .” She said.
