“You Would Freeze to Death!”: Monstrous Shark Fin Spotted at a Popular Swimming Spot Rings Alarm Bells Within the Community

The deep blue surfing arena is filled with infinite possibilities of danger. Life-threatening wipeouts, shark attacks, whetted reefs—the list goes on and on. However, if the wave paddlers get a caution about the dangers beforehand, it will work immensely in their favor. Likewise, recently, a shark fin emerged from the ocean of Cornwall, giving a glimpse of its presence in the sea. Following this, the swimmers and surfers in the area received a warning from the local authorities.

On 19th February, a woman in Gunwalloe near the Porthleven area spotted a dorsal fin emerging out of the water of the Cornish coast. The woman quickly snapped a picture of the fin and shared it with localities, which, in turn, led to concerns among surfers and other beachgoers. Nevertheless, the news quickly caught speed. While many netizens raised concerns regarding the danger, some pointed out the freezing temperatures of the ocean.

As per the report in The Mirror, the woman who spotted the shark stated, “I can’t say what type of shark it is but it doesn’t look like the average basking shark so I thought I would just mention its presence just in case”. Sharing the story on its Facebook handle, the Mirror wrote, “swimmers have been warned to proceed with caution”.
