Michael Phelps Set to Represent Team USA in Celebrity Golf Match Alongside Oscar De La Hoya and NFL Hall of Famer

Just like the celebrity Ryder cup, a new competition will arrive at the Liberty National Golf Club this summer. Hence, it is a tournament that fans can’t wait to see. A collection of world-class athletes and celebrities will take part in the event. Significantly, one athlete who is taking part in the event is Michael Phelps, who loves to play golf.

The Icons Series will conduct its debut U.S. event, featuring sports celebrities from across the globe. It starts on June 30th and ends on July 1st. The venue for the tournament will be the Jersey City golf club. They had previously hosted PGA Tour events and a Presidents Cup.

Michael Phelps set to brush off his golf clubs

Like most tournaments, the event will see Team USA and Team Rest of the World go against each other. The captain of the U.S. Team is Fred Couples, while Ernie Els is the captain of the Rest of the World. Former World number one golfer Couples is an icon of the game.

On the other hand, the four-time major championships winner Els will hope to win the event. Out of all the famous people appearing for the event, Michael Phelps headlines the US Roster.

Other superstars who appear for the event are NFL Hall of Famer and former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan, boxing star Oscar De La Hoya, who held 11 world titles, and former Steelers quarterback and two-time Super Bowl winner Ben Roethlisberger. While Team USA has a strong contention, the Rest of the World features different superstars.

The phenomenal boxer Canelo Alvarez, recently retired tennis player Ash Barty, Manchester City manager and legendary coach Pep Guardiola, and three-time Golden Boot winner Harry Kane. Hence, it is going to be a great tournament with many superstars going against each other.
