Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe Lead US Women to a Monumental Win in Equal Pay Fight

The US soccer team today has won the most important victory of their career. The six-year-long legal battle has finally landed in the soccer team’s half and it’s a historic moment for players as well as for every American soccer fan.

The U.S. Soccer Federation has signed a landmark deal with the U.S. women’s soccer team worth $24 million. The Federation further accepted to provide $2 million to the players for their post-retirement plans and to raise awareness regarding the sports amongst women. This decision means that the women’s team will be on the same pay scale as the American men’s soccer team.

Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan’s views on decision

All the members of US soccer team are the happiest people on the planet right now as their efforts and struggle of six years have finally brought them justice. On this historical victory, the US women’s soccer team midfielder Megan Rapinoe said, “Knowing that we’re going to leave the game in an exponentially better place than when we found it is everything.” 

US soccer team forward Alex Morgan said, “To finally get to this moment feels like we can almost sigh a breath of relief.”

It was not just a victory for players but also for the USSF President Cindy Parlow Cone, who was always in support of the women’s soccer team in their battle against the Federation. Cone said, “This is just one step towards rebuilding the relationship with the women’s team. I think this is a great accomplishment and I’m excited about the future and working together with them.”

US soccer team also got the support of fans during their second consecutive world cup title victory in France as the crowd roared with the sound of “Equal Pay!” along with the players. It’s a huge win for the entire team as well as for the players who’ll join the US soccer team in the future.
