After a shaky post-NHL all-star weekend slumber, the Vancouver Canucks are ready to go back to action. In a thrilling conclusion, they ended their opponent’s four-game winning streak. Fans of the Vancouver Canucks were given reason to be optimistic after seeing their team’s future captain, Elias Pettersson, go guns blazing in a game against the New York Islanders.
There were already four goals scored by the end of the first period, so things were heating up. In a thrilling second period, the Islanders seized the lead, but Canucks forward Elias Pettersson prevented them from holding on to it in the third period of the match. After the game, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet made a strong comment about Pettersson’s performance, and the video of the conversation was posted on YouTube by Glovey McGlovin.

In the post-game interview, Rick Tocchet says, “I mean you know that’s what leaders do right. I talked to Petey you don’t have to be the loudest guy but if you are good on the ice that’s loud right there. To me, that’s being loud. Showing your teammates so I’m willing to do whatever he had two goals tonight too and PK powerplay. Yeah, he led today; that’s what leaders do.”
Rick Tocchet is just happy to see the goals scored by Elias Pettersson today. Tocchet believes that Pettersson’s leadership ability is something that every leader should possess. Pettersson stepped up as a genuine leader today when it seemed all hope was gone, and the result has Tocchet considering him for the captaincy of the club in the future.
