Gennady Golovkin, the Kazakh born middleweight great, is widely regarded as one of the best punchers of all time. Aged 38, he can still pose some serious threats to his opponents and is a relevant champion in the ongoing boxing talks.

That said, despite appearing tranquil outside the ring, Golovkin always had a strategy that helped him become a legend. ‘GGG’ always turned treacherous inside the squared circle as he claimed of wanting to hurt his opponents throughout.

DAZN’s ‘The Making of Gennady Golovkin’ will showcase the champion’s mindset and moral of his fighting career as he reveals his spirit of becoming a veteran.

“Back then I only had one strategy. Get out there and win, step into the ring and punch. I had to take control of the fight and take the lead, which means strong powerful punches,” said Golovkin, while looking back at his highlight-reel performances.

He added, “Applying constant pressure and not letting him go. And this was all because I set out to smash my opponent, to destroy him and not play checkers with him. Or play tag as some fighters say. I just wanted to finish him.”
