Once again, Toyota Gazoo Racing dominated in the World Endurance Championship. This time, the race was held at the Sakhir International Circuit, for the 8 Hours of Bahrain. Some time during the race, there was a spot of entertainment, courtesy former Williams F1 driver Kazuki Nakajima.

The Japanese driver in the second-placed Toyota, was involved in a gutsy move on the main straight. He was behind three cars while heading to the final corner and pulled out of the slipstream. However, the move suddenly turned very dicey as all four cars went 4-wide on the straight. To make matters worse, the car next to Nakajima was heading into the pitlane.

Luckily, there was no major incident and all cars got away unscathed and the crisis was averted. The good news for Kazuki Nakajima was that he escaped any potential penalty.

It was a great day in the office for Toyota Gazoo Racing, romping to a one-two finish. Nakajima and his teammates, Sebastien Buemi and Brendon Hartley finished behind race winners, Mike Conway, José María López and Kamui Kobayashi in the lead No. 7 Toyota.

Conway took advantage of a tangle between front-row starters Bruno Senna and Charlie Robertson. As it turned out, the latter spun off and clipped pole-sitter Senna, and created plenty of carnage.

From that point onwards, it was the last that anyone ever saw of the No.7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid. All three drivers were amazingly flawless, so a victory was almost inevitable, as was the lead in the championship standings.

Sadly for Buemi, Hartley and Kazuki Nakajima, they were hindered by the incident between Senna and Robertson. Fortunately, they were able to recover easily and storm to 2nd place

Meanwhile, Senna’s Rebellion Racing bounced back from their early mishap to complete the podium. Senna, Gustavo Menezes and Norman Nato flashed past Team LNT Ginetta to try and keep tabs on the rampaging Toyotas.
