The Russian Grand Prix 2019 was not one of the best outings for Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc. The wheel of misfortune started spinning as soon as the race began, when Vettel got a better start and squeezed past Leclerc.

Apparently, that was not in the original plan, as discussed by the team and drivers, prior to the race. So, Leclerc was furious and Ferrari had to activate ‘Pacify’ mode, while they repeatedly implored Vettel to let Leclerc pass.

It only got worse from there as arguments flew back and forth between all three parties involved. Finally, during the first round of pitstops, Leclerc’s wish was granted and he took over the lead.

Then, Ferrari discovered that the bottom of the Abyss of Doom that they were excavating, had a massive hole and they fell in it. In other words, Sebastian Vettel’s car sputtered to a halt and died on him.

The disgruntled senior Ferrari driver simply quipped, “Bring back the f*****g V12s”. Cameras later spotted Sebastian Vettel marching away before stomping his feet angrily and continue walking down the path of shame.

Meanwhile, Ferrari’s strategy woes came back to haunt them as Leclerc managed to lose the lead. What was an even bigger wet slap was the fact that both Mercedes got past Leclerc and he was unable to get past even Valtteri Bottas.

In the end, Mercedes took the 1-2 instead of Ferrari and the Italian outfit completely bottled it. They were lucky to not lose out to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Alex Albon, who were 4th and 5th.

It was worth noting that several Ferrari fans were miffed at Ferrari for trying to script the race right from the start itself. This is not the first time Ferrari have been embroiled in a team orders controversy, and it looks like it will definitely not be the last time.
