When we talk about the most disrespectful plays in NBA history, there are numerous events that come to mind. Most famously, fans remember Allen Iverson stepping over Tyronn Lue, and Michael Jordan staring down Dikembe Mutombo after dunking on him. But it is not every day you see a player jumping over another player. There have been very few instances of such highlights. LeBron James executed one such disrespectful play in 2012 against the Chicago Bulls.
The Dunk
The highlight came into being in a game between The Miami Heat and The Chicago Bulls in the ’12-’13 season. The game proceeded as usual, and the Heat were dominating. At about 5 minutes remaining, Dwyane Wade threw an alley-oop to James. LeBron ran from the right-wing and leaped over John Lucas to finish the play. After landing, LeBron immediately turned around to stare down his victim. The 4 time MVP knew that he had curated a poster for the ages but he moved past it without wasting much time and took his place on defense.

The living-legend has evolved into a much more balanced player now with an improvement in his 3pt-shooting and court vision. This clip proves that the Miami phase was LeBron’s physical peak and will not be topped any time soon. This dunk is one of LeBron’s most astounding plays and speaks for his athletic superiority over any other player in the history of the game. The reaction of the crowd by itself was enough to let LBJ know that he had done something special. Vince Carter did something similar in the Olympics when he dunked over a French defender.
